The Michiana Nursing Honor Guard was founded on the principle that nurses who dedicate their lives to caring for others deserve to be honored with dignity and respect in their final farewell. Our volunteer honor guard provides ceremonial tribute services at no cost to families.

The Michiana Nursing Honor Guard History
The Michiana Nursing Honor Guard was established in December 2022, following the passing of a deeply cherished nursing friend. Wanting to honor her life and service in a meaningful way, a group of nurses came together to create a special tribute rooted in respect, tradition, and compassion.

Our Mission Statement
Michiana Nursing Honor Guard recognizes Nurses who have dedicated their lives to our profession. Our purpose of this organization is to provide comfort to the family and let them, as well as the community, know the value of each nurse we are honoring. The Nurses Honor Guard considers it a privilege to participate in this memorial services for fellow nurses in celebration for their years of service.
Traditional White Uniform
Attend all services wearing the traditional white uniform and cap.
Stand Guard
Stand guard at the casket or urn and provide a presence at the service.
She Was There Poem
Recite the She Was There poem in honor of the nurse's life and service.
White Rose Tribute
Lay a white rose on the casket or next to the urn, symbolizing the nurse's dedication to the profession.
Florence Nightingale Pledge
Recite the Florence Nightingale Pledge, honoring the sacred commitment to nursing.
